Reaching Out

Many of us hold back from reaching out to people that are less involved in our lives than they used to be - even when we really miss them. We tell ourselves that they’re too busy, they don’t care about us anymore, or reaching out will be a burden. A recent study has shown that we are actually miscalculating that. People actually like when we reach out to them more than we think they do. You can read more about this study here.

People like to know that they’ve made an impact in your life and that you’re thinking of them. We never really know what’s going on in people’s lives and they might really be needing someone to show that they care in the exact moment that you reach out. And if they don’t respond to you reaching out, well, it’s better to be the one who smiled than the one who didn’t smile back.

Who would you like to reach out to? What’s holding you back?

As always, take what is helpful and leave the rest. I hope you have the week you need.
