Mental Health Day

When was the last time you took a day off? With the pandemic, we may actually find ourselves working more - due to feeling too stressed to travel and feeling like we need to spend all 8 hours of our shift doing. We may also feel like if we are working from home, that our work is blending into our home life. When we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, dreading work, and distracted - it might be a cue that we need to step away. Even though that overwhelm is telling us we can't.

Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. So, if you feel too overwhelmed to be at work, even though you're not physically ill, it's ok to take that break. Just like you would do with a cold or the flu. Those symptoms of anxiety or stress are letting you know that you need to rest, just like a stuffy head and an upset stomach are.

Click here for an article that further explains some of the cues you need a mental health day away and some of the benefits you can receive. (Full disclosure, I am quoted in the article).

As always, take what is helpful and leave the rest. I hope you have the week you need.
