May Flowers

April showers bring May flowers. And we sure have had plenty of those in the Pacific Northwest.

As we step into May, I’m finding myself thinking of that phrase. So much of the time we get stuck feeling like we haven’t moved forward as much as we have wanted to and we feel like we’re back at square one. When we look a little closer though, we notice that we have done so much, but we’ve just moved our marker for what success looks like, once we’ve gotten to our point.

When we’re really depressed, feeling like we need to get out of bed daily may be our goal. Once we do that and start doing that regularly, we may feel like a day that we slept in longer than we wanted means that we are back at square one. But is this actually true or is this just a moment where we need to cultivate compassion? Even if we start struggling to get out of bed, we now have the wisdom to know that we’ve met our goals before and maybe this is all just part of our process.

I’m curious when you actually look back at things you have wanted to work on, what have you been letting grow through the rain? What has been changing inside of you?

As always, take what is helpful and leave the rest. I hope you have the week you need.
