4-Square Breath

You know my go-to coping skill is 4-6-8 breath, but sometimes we just don’t resonate with one skill for any number of reasons. So, I wanted to offer you a different breathing skill. Regulating our breath can do so much to help us regulate our bodies when we are feeling overwhelmed. I will provide instructions for 4-square breath below and you can access this link for more information on why it is helpful.

4-Square Breath Instructions

  • Inhale to the count of 4-

  • Hold your breath to the count of 4

  • Exhale for to the count of 4

  • Repeat 4 times
